I just returned from seventeen days in Zihua/Ixtapa. About half the time I stayed in the Krystal and the other half at the Dorado Pacifico.
The Kudos=
The Krystal had AWESOME service, top quality. The pool waiters new your name and always braught you drinks at the right times! The room was fine, and there was never a fight for a palapa or pool chair.
The Dorado had a water slide for kids and a bigger pool.
The Lame Stuff=
The Krystal was all good, the food was left to be desired for but its vacation, GO OUT to eat!! The Dorado was way overcrowded and you could NEVER get a palapa unless you woke up at 5 am. Seriously, 5 am to battle off early rising old men. The WORST PART was the piano bar that played until all hours of the night. We stayed at the top floor and could NEVER get to sleep because the piano at the bottom floor was amped up so high that the whole hotel was kept up. I even like piano bars, but this was ridiculous.
BOTTOM LINE= STAY at the Krystal where it was SOOOO much better and a great place to stay. (And cheaper oddly enough)
