We ate at Cha Cha Cha's across the street from the Basilica and it was very good. Rick (the owner) told us that all veggies are purified and you have no worries there if you crave a salad. He's also a fantastic info source for Patzcuaro; he is on the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree message board if you have any questions.
Also the Hotel Posada de Basilica has excellent food (the menu is all in Spanish) and you can eat the salads there too.
